How has your business held up through the pandemic? Have you had to pivot? Are you giving potential clients a good view into what services your business provides, what you have to offer and what you can do to help them? This day in age, pandemic or not we are all on the go. We've got to get the kids to soccer, piano lessons, art class, pick up dinner, get the dog to and from the groomer, keep up with friends, attend Zoom calls, do the dishes, schedule parent teacher conferences, follow up with our online learners, help with schoolwork, plus a gazillion other tasks. So when we are looking to purchase a new product or service in the Kansas City area many of us don't have time to walk into a brick-and-mortar business to check out the atmosphere or have the time make a phone call (what is this 1987??? Ha ha!) to find out answers to our questions about products/services. Most consumers are doing their research online these days.
You’re online presence is more important now than ever. What does your business imagery online say about you? It needs to wow your audience in this fast paced world and let them know who you are. Are you a laid back company that goes with the flow, wears jeans to work and has an open door policy in your office? Are you a detail oriented, planner who double checks all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed who sees clients by appointment only? Either way there is a clientele that would LOVE to work with you and just needs to know who you are, what you do and how you do it!
Below are three strategies to show your true self to your potential clientele. This will allow you to better serve them. They will get an idea if you are a good fit for them before even walking in your doors and this will allow you to better serve them.
Strategy ONE: Have great images of you and your staff, your shop and your product visible online. This includes having great images on your website as well as your social media. Having personalized, professional photography really shows potential clients who you are and what you are about. When looking for a photographer near you, hire someone who you trust will get your many different sides and the various aspects of your business. (Don't already know a professional photographer? I've got the girl for you! Click HERE!) Once you have your images don't just add them to your website, but also use them to post on social media. Posting often on social media keeps you top of mind when someone is in need of a service or product you provide. It also allows an insight to who you are and what your products are like.
For example ... I'm a photographer, BUT there are SO many other photographers out there. There are many different styles of photography . . .
light and airy
dark and moody
traditional and classic
true to life
photojournalistic
photographers that use lots of filters and presets
photographers that are more skilled at posing subjects in a more flattering way
and so many more
With the images I have online my clients can quickly see that I am great at posing big groups, small groups and even individuals . . what does your online imagery say about your business?
Do you offer personalized items?
Do you offer products in several color options?
Do you work alone?
Does your staff look approachable?
Do you offer quality products?
(As you can see my online imagery also shows I offer both studio and on location portrait sessions.
Which is something someone searching for a photographer in the Kansas City area may need to know.)
Strategy TWO: Post on social media using phone pics too! Not everything has to be perfect. While perfect pictures are great for your website to showcase professionalism, people want to see you in an every day light too. So take out that cell phone and snap away. People are curious of not only the final product but also of the process. When I see the process of how something is accomplished I am a more engaged follower. I understand better the workflow and can make a more sound decision on whether that process is a good fit for me or not. It also gives me comfort knowing what to expect going in.
Strategy THREE: My final thought on how to show your best and true self to clients searching the internet is to have a professional and updated headshot. Now if you have a professional headshot that is more than 5 years old, it is time to find a local Kansas City photographer to get that updated. The comfort level of a new client walking into a situation is eased when they know who they are going to be working with. Yes they don't know yet your full personality, but seeing a confident, friendly and approachable smile online before the initial visit is welcoming and comforting for many.
Showing your professionalism online is easy as 1, 2, 3. Have great images on your website of yourself, staff and products; post your process on social media so people can know what to expect and show your true self! I encourage you to start on these today showing one of these 3 steps in your online presence! Get out there and let people see your how wonderful you are!
