My son is about to turn 7. I wanted to do something fun with his birthday portrait session. Sometimes I think it's easier to find cute things to do with girls and struggle to think of cute sessions for my son now that he's not a baby anymore. But about a month ago while we were having ice cream at Poppy's in downtown Lee's Summit we noticed a new place across the street, Arcade Alley. It occurred to me that this might be a really fun photo session for Eli who LOVES video games and arcades. So I contacted Arcade Alley to see if they would allow us to do his birthday pictures there, they gave us the go ahead and I was so excited. I went to Target, found a cute Mario t-shirt for him to wear, got my gear together, discussed with Eli that when we would get there we will first take some pictures, then he can play a bit, then do some more pictures, then he can play lots of games. He was in!
. . . So we arrive and he was literally like a kid in a candy shop. He was so excited about what Arcade Alley had to offer: Frogger, Mortal Combat, Skee Ball, Q Bert, Pinball, Air Hockey, Basketball, Tapper, Mario Cart, Pac Man and more. This is where the struggle began. Eli was so interested in the games I could barely get him to look at me, much less smile at me. He was frustrated I wouldn't let him play and I was frustrated he was getting irritated with me for trying to take his pictures. So after several attempts and discussions (yes arguments lol) about it I finally let him be and hoped that there were a handful of images that would make Mom happy. (so much harder to take pictures of your own kids) I think we got some good ones though. Check them out below.
And a HUGE Thank you to Arcade Alley for being so hospital and allowing us to take his birthday portraits there!!!! It is a really fun place, you get a wrist band and can play all the games you want, there are kid hours and adult hours, so it's a win win for everyone! Go check them out!!
