Headshots - What should I wear?

So you've started your business or maybe even pivoted your business.  You've written your business plan, set up your office space and fine tuned your product.  Now it's time to reach out to potential clients to let them know who you are and what you can do for them.  Having a head shot that is taken by a professional photographer is key.  This shows potential clients and customers that you take your business serious and you will do all you can for them with quality service, products and more.  So you search google for "a photograph near me" and schedule your head shots.  But now what to wear??

When clients come into my studio for business head shots I always recommend they bring at least two options.  Often people are a little nervous to be the center of attention.  They are excited when they are doing family photos, to showcase their family and children.  But doing a photoshoot all about solely about yourself can be unsettling for many.  So bringing a couple options gives you time to warm up in front of the camera as well as variety and choices for the final image(s).

As you can see in the two images above, Rusty took my advice to heart.  He is a true professional while also in his personal life a rock star.  He's always been in a band or even multiple bands rocking out.  He's definitely a music lover.  So Rusty chose to have two looks, one in a suit jacket with his glasses on and one more casual with a polo, no glasses.

And in these two images of Eddie . . . he grows his hair out every couple of years.  Then makes little braids and let's the office cut them off for donations to a local charity.  So Eddie opted to do some with is hair down and relaxed and some with it pulled back.

Layers are always a great option as you can see below!  In the first image this content writer wore a solid top and then spiced it up a bit with a floral kimono, very welcoming and inviting.  Then in the second image of a local Scentsy Rep she did something similar but with a vest.  And the third image the American Family Insurance agent kept it simple and classy, solid black layered with a cute denim top.

Desiree of Elegant Events KC (below) is ready to help you with all your party needs.  She opted for two options as well.  The first one a simple, classy, black blouse paired with fun red slacks.  And then the 2nd, a bright red statement top.  Both really showcase her fun personality, style and class while giving her potential clients the comfort knowing she means business and will be sure the event is perfect and fun!

Whatever you decide to wear to your head shot session.  I suggest wearing something you feel great in, comfortable in and of course have options!
