One of my favorite places to photograph families is at their home. Why you ask? Memories are the essence of pictures. Doing your family portraits in your home at that moment in time, at that age of your family documents so much and helps freeze that moment in time. Is a moment of being overwhelmed by parenthood, or maybe saving up for your forever home? Maybe their life isn't the "perfect" life they are working towards. But these are the milestones of your life. So let's celebrate it! Enjoy the moment, be present.
When Sutton reached out to do family photos while they were in town visiting her parents I asked her if she had a location in mind. She suggested we do them at their vacation home in Lake Latawana. I thing it turned out to be a perfect backdrop.
I arrived a few minutes early to scout out the location and look for some great spots. As I walked around I quickly found so many. And once we started her dad, Michael, wanted to be sure to get a picture in front of their flag, they were celebrating SEVENTY-FIVE! years on the property. As we continued the photo session I kept thinking about all the fun Sutton must have had over the years there, right next to the lake. And how awesome it is that her boys get to come back to Missouri in the summers to get that same experience.
I love that I get to help others share their story and document these times in our lives. I am so lucky!
