"Why did we wait so long? Why didn’t we do this sooner? I wish we had more of these from when our kids were younger”. These were all the things I thought when I got to see our wonderful family photos that Adrianne (of Zendejas Photography) took. Adrianne and I had met many years ago through a meet up playgroup when our kids were little. I learned that she was a photographer shortly thereafter. We became close friends and I adore her work, her photos are beautiful and I always thought “We should get some family portraits” but still never scheduled with her. Maybe subconsciously I was waiting till I lost the baby weight? I mean it had only been 10 years! Maybe I was waiting until the budget allowed it? Maybe I was waiting until it could fit into the schedule? Who knows? When I saw that Adrianne was going to be holding mini sessions at Unity Village I thought ok, now’s the time!
Once our session was scheduled I went to work on deciding what to wear. First things first, a new dress for me! Since I was going to be in front of the camera instead of behind it (let’s face it Mom’s that is usually where we are when it comes to photos) I wanted to find something I felt comfortable in. Once I found my dress then I coordinated outfits for my kids (my girls also got to go shopping for new stuff since what I had in mind for them no longer fit. How do they grow so fast?!?) Then once they were set, my husband picked out one of his shirts that matched all of our outfits.
To say the day of our session was humid would be a huge understatement! I am not from Missouri but have lived here over 12 years and I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the stickiness of it all. But looking at the pictures Adrianne took you would have never even guessed it was as hot and humid as it was. She did a fabulous job making us look wonderful. Her demeanor behind the camera is amazing, she knew just what to say to get us to smile, to make our girls laugh, and did it all in under 20 minutes! The location, Unity Village, was the perfect backdrop. The architecture, fountains, and rose garden were beautiful and Adrianne knew exactly where to go for the perfect shots.
Adrianne had our photos ready for us in a week! I wasn’t expecting to have them so soon and was so pleased when I saw them. I absolutely love them! I love the way she captured our personalities, our silliness, and the love we have for each other, I can’t thank her enough. I still don’t know why I put off having our family portraits taken for so long. I’m just so glad that we finally did!
